I’ve been thinking about how most of us start making things long before we feel “good” at it. The first thing I ever made was a small crochet piece that was very uneven, but I remember feeling proud just to have finished it. Sometimes those early projects stay with us because they remind us that making is really about learning and experimenting.

If you’re comfortable sharing: What was the first thing you ever made?

It could be something simple: a scarf, a drawing, a handmade gift, or even a school project.

Technically the first thing I made was basically scrap fabric, but the best feeling is the refining process

That’s a great way to describe it! the refining process is where a lot of the learning really happens. Do you feel like that early experience connects at all to how you approach making now? Sometimes those first pieces shape more than we realize.
